Don’t call it a comeback because I’ve been here for years! Side note:Sorry that the other blog got its posts up first. They were harder to do and these post are easier so I left it until the last minute.
Now why in every mythology I look into there are always giants? Are these ancient folks trying to give me a short man’s complex?
The Jotunn are a mythological race that live in Jotunheimr, one of the nine worlds of Norse cosmology. They were banished there by the Esir Norse gods who refused them entry into their world, Asgard. Despite that during the myths, the Jotunn often interact with the Norse gods, sometimes friendly and sometimes violently. Some of the Jotunn are described as hideous with large fangs, claws, and disturbing deformities such as extra heads or extra arms. However once one gets down to more specific Jotunn they can be described the exact opposite. For example, the Jotunn Skadi was often described as beautiful and the ‘bright bride of the gods.’ The Jotunn were also known to be very wise. During one time, Odin the king of the gods went to the Jotunn Mimir to gain knowledge about Fimbulvinter, the long winter that is the final sign before the beginning of Ragnarok.
In Norse mythology, the Jotunn possesses these abilities:
- A vast amount of powers specific to a specific Jotunn(translation: they don’t share powers)
In series the Jotunn possesses the above abilities in addition to these:
- Plant Control
- Earth Element
In Norse mythology, the Jotunn don’t possess any weaknesses.
In series, Jotunn possesses these weaknesses:
- Thunderous Tin
Appearance in the Thief King Chronicles
Jotunn is Spirit Creatures of Earth from the Realm of Earth. They are far larger than giants and able to use their large experience to their advantage. They are very wise and clever. During her training, Alice Zane of the Marauders spoke with one of them and learned much about herself and the Element of Earth.
